					<title>Chris Hough&apos;s</title>
					<link>http://chrishoughband.com/blog.cfm?feature=316266&amp;postid=30633</link>
					<description>Chris Hough&apos;s CD &amp;quot;Turn for the West&amp;quot; has been getting world-wide airplay. Thanks to you those of you that purchased a copy! Below is what some DJs have said. He also has a live performance video competing at www.ourstage.com which is at #27 and rising. This is kind of cool because the videos include all types, not just jazz.
Lorraine Hough

&amp;quot;Chris Hough&apos;s latest CD release &amp;quot;Turn For The West&amp;quot; is a turn for the best!  It&apos;s a wonderful listening experience.&amp;quot;
--Les Tarr, KMFB 92.7 FM/96.7 FM, Mendocino, CA

&amp;quot;I have to say that this is an absolutely superb recording from first to last. A good mix of tempos and influences which combine to make the entire production flow with consummate smoothness. Refreshingly new tunes, well written, produced, and played with Musicianship of the highest quality. The influence of Barney Kessel and Charlie Christian on Mr. Hough are there to hear and he more than does them justice by adding his own distinct and fluent style. Full marks to all concerned with this high class recording. Best Wishes,
--John Reid, Keith Community Radio 102.8 FM, Keith, Banffshire, SCOTLAND.&amp;quot;

&amp;quot;Some reviews say that if you don&amp;rsquo;t like jazz guitar, don&amp;rsquo;t worry, because the sound of the Chris Hough&amp;rsquo;s guitar will please you for sure. What if you, a jazz guitar fan are? Then it is even more true. The music is not difficult to listen to, but it is not simple music to play. And that is clever. It is as a clever man who could explain a difficult theme simple to the people. So Chris does. Thank you for your music.&amp;quot;
--DJ, Jan Nederveen, Radio 794, Netherlands

Rocking the jazz guitar
Chris Hough is an accomplished jazz guitarist with a degree from the acclaimed Berklee College of Music who has just released an album called &amp;quot;Turn for the West.&amp;quot; The 47-year-old transplant isn&apos;t content to play jazz that would be at home in food courts and elevators - he loves Led Zeppelin as much as Al Di Meola and was known as &amp;quot;Mister Rock&amp;quot; in college, he told The Salt Lake Tribune. The music teacher is just one of the many acts at the Utah Arts Festival this weekend. The festival, running through Sunday, features the accomplished WMCA Rock Ensemble, alt-country favorites Band of Annuals and mellow psychedelic band Calico, among scores of others. Hough said he might be so inspired by the creative aura of the festival he&apos;ll &amp;quot;sing some bossa nova.&amp;quot;

					<description>Music Picks June 26-July 2 | Live: Utah Arts Festival, Chris Hough

Friday 6.27
CHRIS HOUGH CD RELEASE
Local jazz guitarist Chris Hough draws on both a formal training background and plain old life experience to shape his signature style. The Connecticut native honed his skills at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, but it took more than a fancy degree to inspire the new full-length album. Hough played around Boston for 20 years, hitting up tony galas and outdoor festivals before a bit of ennui set in. For one reason or another, he decided to jumpstart his career by relocating to Utah. With a little extra prodding from his wife, Hough got finally got down to business. The result: Turn For the West, a collection of 10 solid original compositions that coast along lighter-than-air drums, low and funky bass and, of course, Hough&amp;rsquo;s nimble strings. Listen closely, and you might hear the strain of shoveling snow, or struggling through unemployment. Or just close your eyes, and drift away.
